Soft bed covers are made from soft, tarp like plastic and can have bows to give it a rounded roof like appearance so that snow and water can run off the top. These types of covers are attached to the truck by snaps or Velcro. There are a variety of different designs including roll ups, hinged and folding lid versions.

The third main type of truck bed covers is the retractable versions. A canister sits on the back of the truck and the cover rolls up inside this canister when you want access to the bed. Retractable covers come in hard or soft types.
